Throughout her work as a mental health therapist and educator, Theresa Cardiello has always woven in the use of art and music.  She firmly believes in the beneficial and therapeutic role that creativity can play in one’s life.  With an undergraduate degree in elementary education with an emphasis in fine arts and a graduate degree in mental health counseling, Theresa holds current licenses in both K-8 education and an LCPC license (counseling.)

Theresa has taught piano lessons for the past 30 years and founded the Cardiello Art Camp in 1998, now a Helena staple for over 60 students every summer.  During the school year, Theresa teaches several after-school art classes.  (elementary school-age children on Mondays and Thursdays, and middle-school students on Wednesdays.)  Theresa also teaches an a class called, “Thrive,” which is a 7 or 8 week discussion/art class for adults.

Theresa continues to offer private counseling.  (private practice - at Free Ceramic Studios - 650 Logan St.) When appropriate and fitting, Theresa incorporates music and art into her therapy sessions.

Theresa has had 3 art shows at the Myrna Loy Center.  In 2003 Theresa and her 4 children displayed their artwork in a show called, “Art in the Family.”   In 2012 the Myrna Loy Center again offered its space, and the ensuing art show displayed the Cardiello Art Garage student’s artwork.  Theresa's after-school art students again displayed their art pieces for a showing in April, 2016.  The Cardiello Art Garage displayed both the children’s and adult’s art pieces in January, 2018 and March 2019 at Free Ceramics Studio.

Theresa was a recipient of the Myrna Loy Center Grants to Artist’s Award in 1999 to record her original instrumental compositions.

Theresa wears many hats.   Another side-business is that she runs her house as an airbnb guest house.  Guests rent out a room, or, on occasion, rent out the whole house.  Check out Airbnb.com  – Helena- Artsy House here.  Theresa also rents out her mountain house.  This space is set in the Helena National Forest, but is only 5 miles from town!  Check out Airbnb.com - Helena - Mountain Artsy House (you can rent the whole house (4 bedrooms) or either the upper level or lower level of the house, or the Guest House.)
